There are a number of things of which I have never been accused of:
1)Being a lazy artist - I think prolific is the positive term!
2) Being predictable in my subject matter - I wouldn’t really have the attention span for a series.
3) Being able to really settle into ‘just-one-thing’ - perhaps tomorrow I’ll try my hand at performance art...hmmm
“The creation of art is the passion. The completion of art only ignites another creation.” (Jeffrey Breslow)
The above quote makes me chuckle as I think about the sad reality my husband faces everyday as he fights through the piles of potential objets d’art that line the walls of our basement and garage. Old window frames, a rusty 1961 road king motorcycle, doll parts, barn boards with peeling paint, old glass jars are all just to name a few of the treasures which await their moment to shine in the next piece of art. And that’s just when I feel like a good day of sculpting.
The painting set-up, is a buffet of delicious acrylics, oils, pastels, pencils, crayons, bees wax, encaustic paints and all its’ paraphernalia, brushes, scrapers of all sorts, papers and scraps which have been saved from all corners of the world. All this just describes my home studio. I started my professional studio and gallery, St. Elmo’s Fire in 2009, in Ottawa, Canada and continues to grow and thrive. Visit www.st-elmosfire.com
I invite you to browse though the images of my art and peek into my world, get a sense of who I am and how “I tick”.
